Bachelor of Arts / Bachelor of Science
In the undergraduate academic program, students acquire the core skills necessary to enter professional life as planner or to pursue postgraduate education. These skills include planning processes and methods, research, law and administration, analysis, community leadership, ethics, design, growth management, and problem solving. Urban Planning Minor
With the successful completion of six undergraduate courses in urban planning, a student from any major at the University of Utah may earn a minor in Urban Planning. This supplementary undergraduate program may be of use to students from a wide variety of disciplines who wish to acquire a base of knowledge about urban planning. learn more

Honors Degree in Urban Planning
The Honors Program offers an academically challenging course of study for undergraduate urban planning students. The program allows the top students in the college to satisfy some of the urban planning degree requirements through a distinctive and demanding set of classes created to stimulate design, planning, and conceptual excellence. Students completing the specified requirements will earn a bachelor of science/arts with both college and university honors. learn more

Master of City & Metropolitan Planning
The graduate planning degree produces professional planning practitioners through courses in urban processes, history, law, theory, research, and analysis. The program features a community-based planning workshop along with a capstone experience: professional project or a master’s thesis. In addition, students create an area of specialization to suit their professional interests, which may include: Land use, Environmental Planning, Economic Development, Housing Planning and Policy, Community Development, Transportation Planning, Urban Design, Historic Preservation and Geographic Information Systems.
